Wiley S. Hunt Jr., 93, resident of Slidell, and former resident of Bogalusa, passed away on Sept. 2, 2020, at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bogalusa on Aug. 2, 1927, to Wiley S. Hunt Sr. and Beatrice Burdette Hunt. Wiley was a member of the North Shore Running Club and enjoyed being outdoors and getting exercise through running. Wiley also served his country in the U.S. Navy, joining and serving toward the end of World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Tonti of Slidell, and Diane Beall and her husband Paul of Kenner; and grandchildren, Allison Craigie and Jessica Tonti.

Wiley was preceded in death by his wife, Vallery Hunt; his sister, Yvonne Sherman; and his parents, Wiley S. Hunt Sr. and Beatrice Burdette Hunt.

A graveside service to celebrate Wiley’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Sanctuary of Peace Mausoleum in Ponemah Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Clay Norwood will officiate the service and entombment will follow.
