Washington Parish President Richard Thomas released a statement Thursday morning, concerning the potential for bad weather in the coming days.
Thomas’ statement was as follows:
“As of 10 a.m. this morning, Tropical Depression Fourteen had formed in the Caribbean and is forecasted to move into the western Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm on Sunday. As your parish president, I would like to remind all the citizens of Washington Parish that now is a good time to review your emergency plan.
“I urge everyone to continue to monitor the progress of this system over the next few days. Updates from my office and the Washington Parish Homeland Security Office will be made on our respective web and social media pages.
“Now is the time to make sure your generator is in working order and that you have all necessary supplies you may need for seven days. I continue to urge everyone to remain vigilant, as we are in the peak of hurricane season.”
