Two pedestrians were killed in a crash in Washington Parish on Thursday morning, according to Trooper Taylor J. Scrantz of the Louisiana State Police.
Shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday, troopers from LSP Troop L began investigating a fatal crash involving two pedestrians on Louisiana Highway 1075, north of Louisiana Highway 1074 in Washington Parish. The crash claimed the lives of Liltricia Lewis, 27, of Bogalusa, and Larshuandra Holmes, 37, of Tylertown, Miss.
Scrantz said that the initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Lewis and Holmes were walking southbound in the southbound lane of Highway 1075. At the same time, Beverly Blackwell, 64, of Bogalusa, was traveling southbound on Highway 1075 in a 2019 Nissan Rogue. As Lewis and Holmes were walking, they were struck by the Nissan, Scrantz said.
Both Lewis and Holmes sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and were pronounced deceased at the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were obtained from Lewis and Holmes for analysis. Blackwell was properly restrained and was not injured, Scrantz said. She was given a chemical breath test and showed no signs of impairment. This crash remains under investigation.
