Parish to test new emergency system Monday
The Washington Parish Communications District (911) will be placing an Emergency Notification System in operation on Monday, the first day of the 2020 hurricane season.
Beginning at 4 p.m., every land-based telephone in Washington Parish will receive the following message:
“This is a test of the Washington Parish emergency notification system. Washington Parish 9-1-1 has developed this system to keep you informed of official information, news, or instructions from participating agencies. Additional information about this system can be found on the Washington Parish Communications District Facebook page and web site. This concludes today’s test of the emergency notification system.”
The 911 District will make this system available at no cost to Washington Parish government, schools, hospitals and public safety organizations.
