Benton V. Taylor passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa. He was born July, 23, 1928, in Washington Parish to John and Lillie Magee Taylor. He married Patsy Wall on Dec. 24, 1955. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2020. Benton retired from the Holsum Bread Company after running the Franklinton route for 36 years. He was a faithful member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and served many years as a deacon and on many committees. He was a charmer with a constant twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known for his gardening, especially growing tomatoes. Benton proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, during the Korean conflict.

Benton is survived by his children, Ron (Dawna) Taylor of Murphy, Texas, Cheryl Lyons of Humble, Texas, Pam (Ted) Ball of Baton Rouge, and Greg (Suzy) of Madison, Miss. His legacy continues through his 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving Benton is his brother, Ray Taylor, of Franklinton.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years; sisters, Nora Graves, Alma Thomas, Viola Pevey, Mamie Cooper, and Lettie Foil; and brothers, Frank Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Eddie Taylor, and Devon Taylor.

Due to COVID-19, a graveside service will be held with Pastor Marcus Rosa of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating. Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be made online at www.pooleritchiefuneralhome.com.
