On Monday, Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette issued a letter “To the Citizens of the City of Bogalusa,” in response to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The letter reads:
“Working from the declarations by President Trump, Governor Edwards and Parish President Thomas and the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the City of Bogalusa is taking the following steps to ensure the health and safety of our Citizens, employees, staff and others with whom we work.
“As of today, March 13, 2020, the City of Bogalusa is now canceling all city events. This is to include but not be limited to all city sponsored recreation leagues, permitted events and any previously scheduled city functions. These orders are anticipated to continue until April 12, 2020, at which time the city will re-evaluate the situation and the potential for rescheduling.
“Finally we ask everyone to please follow the CDC’s coronavirus health instructions by frequently washing your hands, avoiding touching your face, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and keeping a courteous social distance from those around you.
“We will continue to provide updates by email, on Bogalusa.org and through our social media platforms as we monitor this rapidly changing situation.”
