Mrs. Dorothy Mae Thomas passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, the age of 95, at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa. Dorothy was a native and lifelong resident of Bogalusa. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Bogalusa. Mrs. Dorothy loved taking her family to church every Sunday, where she enjoyed singing in that special alto voice. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren where the light of her life. She will be greatly missed by all whose life she touched.
Mrs. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Bruce Herring and his wife Peggy of Bossier City, and Rodney Thomas Sr. and his wife Dixie of Franklinton; and one sister, Louise Byrd of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other friends and family members.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edgar Thomas; one son, David Lee Herring; five brothers, Lee Hyde, S.C. Hyde, Paul Hyde, Sheldon Hyde and J.V. Hyde; and two sisters, Ollie Dolan and Juanita Rogers.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Funeral Services at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Wesley Quave will be officiating, with visitation resuming at 9 a.m., until service time. Interment will immediately follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
