James “Jimmy” Earl Gann Jr. passed away in Baton Rouge on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.

James is survived by his son, Jonathan Cody Gann; sister, Dr. Melinda Duce; brother, Robert Edwin Gann Sr.; nieces, Amber Price and Gabriel Borst; nephew, Robert Edwin Gann Jr.; and his unofficial grandchildren, Sunny, Zeke, Foxie and Teddy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Marie Gann; father, James Earl Gann Sr.; sister, Melanie Kay Gann; and cousins, Donald and John Jordan.

Jimmy grew up in Bogalusa and graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1969. He attended Southeastern as a History major until earning a technical degree in Heating and Air Conditioning from Louisiana Vocational College. He was a hard worker and a patient man who was always willing to help and teach others. He loved hunting, fishing and local football from high school to LSU to the Saints. He played multiple instruments, including guitar and organ. Jimmy had a way of making everyone around him laugh and feel comfortable. His unique sense of humor will never be reproduced. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation on Friday, Jan. 24, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, located at 216 Alabama Ave. in Bogalusa. Visitation will be available on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.
