Rita June Herring passed away on Dec. 29, 2019, at the age of 97. She was born in New Orleans on Jan. 31, 1922.

She was a lifelong member of Annunciation Catholic Church.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Walter Joe Fournet Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Sun, Alison Wilson of Bogalusa, and Jill Kelehan of Diamondhead, Miss.; eight great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fulton and Mary Elizabeth Talley; her sister, Eloise “Nan” Talley; husband, Cassie “Peck” Herring; daughter, Dianne C. Herring; great-grandson, Eric J. Quave; and grandson-in-law, Jimmy E. Wilson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home. Services celebrating her life will be at Annunciation Catholic Church in Bogalusa on Friday, Jan. 3. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the funeral service begins at noon. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
