The Krewe of MCCA (Magic City Carnival Association) will begin its 40th season on Saturday evening, with the reveal of King and Queen XL and the Presentation of the incoming Royal Court, at the event to be held Saturday, Dec. 28, at the American Legion Home.

The 2020 season theme is “Cheers to Forty Years.” Captain Don Spiers says that the Saturday, Feb. 22, parade will present 46 carnival floats. The captain claims that MCCA is in the top five of the largest Mardi Gras parades in Louisiana, and the very biggest in any city of 15,000 or less in the world.

The Krewe’s 2019 King and Queen James Barber and Michelle Melancon Goode will be presented as the retiring royalty, and the MCCA past Kings and Queens will be recognized at the event.
