Central Elementary School in Bogalusa was awarded a $10,000 donation in celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Dollar General recognizes the important role our school plays in developing the youth of tomorrow,” CES principal LaRobyn Houston said. “These funds will be used to replace worn books and purchase supplemental independent reading collections for our ELA curriculum.”

This contribution was made in honor of J.L. Turner, Dollar General’s co-founder. He was a functional illiterate with only a third-grade education. Dollar General is committed to strengthening and expanding literacy efforts within schools.

Houston gave a special thanks to the local Dollar General team, at the Sullivan Drive location, for their hard work and dedication, which made this opportunity possible.
