Bro. Glen Oran Jefferson was called from labor to reward on Nov. 23, 2019, at the age of 60 years old. He was born to the late Cleveland Sr. and Dorothy Jefferson. He was a native of Franklinton, and a graduate of Franklinton High School. He attended Wesson University in Wesson, Miss., on a basketball scholarship before relocating back to Louisiana.

Bro. Jefferson worked in the medical field as an orderly for many years and later started working at Thompson Meat Plant until his health began to fail. His hobbies were basketball, landscaping, and enjoying his fireplace. He was an active member of Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an Usher.

He leaves to cherish his passing: one daughter, Jerica Chenelle Gamble of Houston, Texas; one son, Jelani Bernard Gamble of Houston; three grandchildren, Jaiyla, Mikah, and Chamya; one great-grandchild, Carter Jace, all of Houston; one sister, Mona Lisa Jefferson of Franklinton; six brothers, Rev. Clifford Ray (Anita) Jefferson of Franklinton, Clarence (Kay) Jefferson, Charles (Jocelyn) Jefferson, Kim Jefferson, and Kevin Jefferson, all of Houston, and Gregory Jefferson of Lawton, Okla.; one aunt, Irene Seawright of New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland Jefferson Sr. and his devoted mother Dorothy Jefferson; one sister, Kena Jefferson Asbury; and two brothers, Cleveland Jefferson Jr. and Rudolph Jefferson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. to noon at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1811 Desmare St. in Franklinton, and the funeral service will follow. Interment will be at Sweet Rest Memorial Park.
