A Bush woman was killed Wednesday morning in a fatal car crash in St. Tammany Parish, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Trooper David Levy of the LSP’s Public Affairs Section said that on Wednesday, at approximately 6:34 a.m., troopers from LSP Troop L responded to a serious injury crash involving one vehicle on Louisiana Highway 59 near Louisiana Highway 1088 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of Marlene D. Williams, 63, of Bush.

Levy said that the initial investigation led troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Williams was driving a Hyundai Elantra south on Highway 59. For reasons still under investigation, Williams’ vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and impacted an embankment, Levy said.

Despite being properly restrained, Williams sustained severe injuries in the crash. She was transported to an area hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

As part of the investigation, blood samples were collected by St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office for scientific analysis, Levy said. The investigation remains ongoing as troopers review the evidence.
