Leroy Creel Sr. passed away at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at the age of 72. He was born in Bogalusa on March 6, 1947. He was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Bogalusa. He honored his country, serving in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Maxine Creel; his son, Leroy (Charlotte) Creel Jr.; three daughters, Michelle (Steve) Jenkins, Debbie Winder and Renee (Larry) Vidrine; his eight grandchildren, Cody Creel, Jason Creel, Brandon Jenkins, Hope Jenkins, Rusty Winder, Rhiannon Moreau, Hannah Smith, Phillip Smith and Cody Vidrine; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Betsey (Roy) Keating Sr.; and his brother, Oliver Creel. He is also survived by other relatives and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Mamie Creel; his son, Martin R. Winder; and his sister, Betty Caves.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory. Services honoring his life were scheduled to be held at New Life Pentecostal Church in Bogalusa. Visitation started on Friday, Nov. 8, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will continue Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 3 p.m. The Rev. Wesley Quave, the Rev. Colby Meadows, the Rev. Cody Creel, and the Rev. Bobby Keating will officiate. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
