Larry Wood Terrell, 78, passed away at his home in Pine on Nov. 6, 2019. He was born March 12, 1941, in Kokomo, Miss., to William and Lendorse Terrell. Larry retired from Gaylord Container Corporation after 35 years of service. He was a member of Pine First Baptist Church and resided in the Pine community for most of his life. He was a member of the Pine Masonic Lodge and the Washington Parish Shriners. He was also co-owner of Terrell’s Lawnmower. Larry never failed to help someone in need, he worked hard, loved to joke and make people laugh, loved fishing, growing muscadines, working on tractors, and first and foremost he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Jean Jones Terrell; his son, Larry Dewayne (Faith) Terrell of Pine; his daughters, Cheryl (Joe) Mitchell of Poplarville, Miss., Lisa (Pat) Posey of Carthage, Miss., Lana (Gary) Barker of Houston, Texas, and Melissa (Gene) Magee of Denham Springs; his siblings, Billie Sue Spears, Tommy Terrell, Mary Lou (Daniel) Gill, Gloria (Glenn) Haley, Charlotte (Michael) Williams, Patsy (Harold) Ritchie and Brenda (Eugene) Martin; an uncle, Holcomb Pittman of Pascagoula, Miss.; special friends, Bruce Haines and Charlie Corkern; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lendorse Pittman Terrell; brothers, William Wayne and Clyde Terrell; brother-in-law, Willie Jay Spears; and sisters-in-law, Jeannie and Alice Terrell.

Special thanks to Home Instead for their faithful service; Bruce Haines, who became more family than caregiver and his/our guardian angel; and Whitney Terrell, whom we appreciate the love, support and sacrifices she has made to be there for our family.

Visitation for Larry began Friday evening, Nov. 8, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue Saturday morning, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at Pine First Baptist Church and will remain open until the service at noon. The Rev. David Easterling and the Rev. Kenneth Blackwell will officiate and interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Casey Terrell, Colton Terrell, Connor Terrell, Joey Mitchell, Ryan Posey and Dustin Barker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Posey, Nick Magee, Lindy Terrell, Steve Terrell, Bill Sammons, Joe Michael Williams, Freddy Roth, Jeff Jones, Greg Jones, Michael Jones, Billy Pittman and Bruce Haines.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in his memory to the Pine First Baptist Church Building Fund of the Alzheimer’s Association.
