Franklinton schools locked down after threat call

Franklinton police reported Thursday that several schools in the town were temporarily placed on lockdown, due to police receiving a threatening call concerning Franklinton High School.

According to FPD officials, the department received a call Thursday in reference to a potential threat at FHS. Subsequently, the high school and Franklinton Elementary School were placed on lockdown and all bus routes were temporarily suspended.

Franklinton police said that officers arrived within minutes and cleared the buildings. After a short time, the area was deemed secure. It was determined there was no threat to the school and the lockdown was lifted.

Franklinton police said they are currently investigating the situation, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
