A Franklinton man was killed in a head-on collision in Tangipahoa Parish on Thursday evening, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Trooper David Levy said that Thursday, at approximately 5:47 p.m., troopers from LSP Troop L responded to a serious-injury head-on crash involving two vehicles on Louisiana Highway 10 near Charles McDaniel Road in Tangipahoa Parish. The crash claimed the life of Frank Seymore Jr., 68, of Franklinton.

Levy said that the initial investigation led troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Dustin Kahle, 28, of Mt. Hermon was driving a Nissan Altima east on Highway 10, crossed the centerline in a no-passing zone, and struck a westbound Ford Ranger, driven by Seymore. Both drivers sustained severe injuries in the crash.

They were transported to an area hospital, where Seymore ultimately succumbed to his injuries. As part of the investigation, blood samples were collected for scientific analysis. Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash, Levy said.

The investigation remains ongoing as troopers review the evidence. Any pending criminal charges will be forwarded to the Tangipahoa Parish District Attorney’s Office. No additional information is available at this time.
