Bogalusa Senior Center to host forum

AARP Bogalusa Chapter 4032, along with its partners The Daily News, Washington Parish Council on Aging, Bogalusa Senior Center, and Washington Parish NAACP, jointly announced plans for the 2019 Candidate Forum scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Washington Parish Council on Aging.
The location for the event is 603 Willis Ave in Bogalusa. AARP Bogalusa is a registered chapter of AARP Louisiana and included in the AARP southeast region that includes the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.
All candidates for Louisiana State Senate, Louisiana State Representative, Washington Parish President and Washington Parish Sheriff have been invited. Justin Schuver, editor and publisher of The Daily News, will be the moderator and provide questions to the State Senate and State Representative candidates. Chuck Hughes of Talley, Anthony, Hughes and Knight will be moderator for the Parish President and Sheriff Candidates.
Readers can submit questions to be considered for the forum by submitting them to justin.schuver@bogalusadailynews.com before noon Wednesday. Please state for which political race your questions should be asked.

AARP Bogalusa is also glad to be a sixth year national partner of the NonProfit VOTE for National Voter Registration Day scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Washington Parish Library Bogalusa Branch.
Voter registration applications will be available for outreach to local citizens to assist them in registering to vote. As an active partner of NonProfit Vote, AARP will also utilize the Voter Engagement Toolkit and the National Voter Registration Day Stickers and posters.
Plans are to distribute National Voter Registration Day posters throughout the City of Bogalusa and conduct a Get Out the Vote phone bank on election day.
