Parish Coalition on Human Services has August meeting

The Washington Parish Coalition on Human Services (WPCHS) held its August meeting at the ESM United Methodist Church.

State Sen. Beth Mizell addressed the group. She is the Louisiana state senator for District 12, which encompasses the parishes of Washington, Tangipahoa, and northern St. Tammany. Mizell shared updates on policies that took place in the last legislative session. She said that she is eager to serve the people and encouraged anyone with thoughts and suggestions to contact her personally.

Reports were given by members. Rusty Fornea reported on the Prevention Connection meeting that takes place at 8:30 a.m. immediately before the WPCHS meeting. Fornea also gave an update on the DFC grant. General announcements were made by members and then the meeting was adjourned by President Rhonda Gunnell.

Attendees of the August meeting included Veronica Thomas, Shanda Glover, Frances Varnado, Glory Davis, Taffy Morrison, Rusty Fornea, Ginger Champagne, Kathy Pfleider, Paris Sumrall, Regina Meyerchick, Gloria Wilkes, Selina Gilliland, Phillipp Bedwell, Ana Lopez, Beth Mizell, Jennifer Johnson, Reverend James Moore, Sheri Eastridge, Heather Gagliano, Sheila Seal, Julia Gibbs, Wendy Henley, Jennifer Batino, A.J. Sherrard, Laura Kintner, Brittny Costella, Jennifer O’Quinn, and Rhonda Gunnell.

The next scheduled meeting for WPCHS will be on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 9:30 a.m. at ESM United Methodist Church. Guest speakers will be from Southeast Louisiana Legal Service and Domestic Violence. Meetings are open to the public.
