A Mt. Hermon man and a Baton Rouge man were both killed in a single-vehicle crash in Washington Parish early Friday morning, according to the Louisiana State Police.

The LSP reported that on Friday at approximately 7:30 a.m., troopers from LSP Troop L responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 440, west of Louisiana Highway 450 in Washington Parish. The crash claimed the lives of Terry A. Haney Jr., 37, of Baton Rouge and Johnny Tyrell Harvey, 35, of Mt. Hermon.

LSP officials said that the initial investigation led troopers to determine that Haney was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero westbound on Highway 440. For reasons still under investigation, Haney’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and crash into a tree. Haney and his front-seat passenger, Harvey, were reportedly not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Both occupants sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased on scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, blood samples were collected for analysis.
