Linda Busby

Linda Diane Collum Busby, born Dec. 15, 1948, lost her 12-year battle with cancer and was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, on Aug. 20, 2019.

Linda graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1966, and went on to Southeastern Louisiana University where she obtained a Master’s Degree, in education. She taught first grade at Denhamtown School for 31 years before retiring; she was a mentor and an educator. Her love for teaching was enormous and she always said, “ I have never had a student that I didn’t fall in love with.”

Linda is survived by her mother, Betty Rose Malley Collum, of Bogalusa; two sons, Allen Frank Busby and his wife Cherie, of Ponchatoula, and Kevin George Busby (and special friend Marcella Danielle), of Bogalusa; two brothers, George Alan Collum and (special friend Marsha Ann Hunt) of Bogalusa, and Donald Wayne Collum and his wife Pam of Midway, Ga.; sister-in-law, and best friend Kim Busby Crowe, of Bogalusa; two stepsons, Michael and Darren Busby; and a stepdaughter Amy Alldredge.

Linda is preceded in death by her father, Levell George Collum; and husband, William Len Busby, both of Bogalusa.

Relatives and friends of the family attended Funeral Services at Brown McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Friday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Greg Whaley. Interment immediately followed at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and other staff at Mary Bird Cancer Center, St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Our Lady of the Angles Hospital in Bogalusa. Also to Southeast Louisiana Home Health and St. Tammany Parish Hospice. A special thanks to Brandy Pierce of OLOFA, and April Carroll our sitter and friend.
