Edward ‘Pippy’ Smith

Edward “Pippy” Smith entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at age 60. He was born in New Orleans, and lived in Kentwood for the majority of his life. In his younger years, he was a member of Fellowship of Sunlight C.O.G.I.C. and in his adult years, he was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Edward was the son of the late Leslie Charles and Mamie Nadine Smith and was raised by the late Adolph and Rosemary Ross. He was the brother to Dorothy (Bernell-deceased) Henderson, Bobby (Regina), Walter (Rachelle), Gloria and Rosemary Smith, and the late Royce (Tito) Smith, Geraldine Johnson and Irma Lee Mitchell. He is survived by his godchild, Bobby Watkins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Coleman family, especially Kim and Na, who were his caregivers in the last months of his life.

Funeral services will be at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Osyka-Progress Road, in Osyka, Miss., on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Interment will be in Dickerson-Ellzey Cemetery in Kentwood.
