Bogalusa’s Lumberjacks traveled to Fontainebleau for a scrimmage on Thursday, as the football season is almost here for LHSAA teams.
Bogalusa coach Adam Brumfield said his team got some really good work.
“Stepping up two classes to play is always good work and competition and Fontainebleau didn’t disappoint us,” Brumfield said. (Fontainebleau) coach (Christopher) Blocker and his staff do a really good job and they have a ton of kids but I thought we held our own. It was a scrimmage format so we didn’t keep score. However, they scored three times and we scored twice.”
Brumfield said his defense did a good job for the most part.
“Played really well against the run and we’re flying to the football, but gave up a few plays in the passing game,” Brumfield said. “Offensively our timing needs a lot of work, but it’s something we can fix. We started out slow, but made some adjustments and had some success later on. Josh Taylor rushed for a touchdown and also threw for one to Raheem Roberts. Both are juniors that started last year so they gained valuable experience and it’s been fun watching them both develop physically and mentally. They have both grown up a lot and will be key players for us this year. I’m expecting big things from the both of them.”
Bogalusa plays in the second game in the Our Lady of Angels Hospital Washington Parish Jamboree on Friday against Varnado at BHS.
The first game is Franklinton and Pine. They begin at 6 p.m.
Team will play a pair of 15-minute quarters.
“If you’re a Washington Parish football fan, the place to be Friday will be here in Bogalusa to watch all teams from the parish compete,” Brumfield said. “We look forward to playing Varnado and I think our fans do as well. Also. I know a lot of people look forward to watching Franklinton and pine play as well. It’s an opportunity for us to put some finishing touches on things before week one and should make for some good football and a great night.”
