Sylvester Thompson

Sylvester “Bill” Thompson passed away at the age of 78 on Aug. 6, 2019. He was a man who touched the lives of many. He was a husband, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend. He will always be remembered for his humble spirit.
Sylvester was born on Sept. 29, 1941 to the late Deacon Webster and LeVater Thompson in Walthall County, Miss. He loved driving big trucks. He worked for Fornea Timber/Lumber in Angie, and Wood Treating Inc. in Picayune, Miss. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Tylertown, Miss.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Essie B. Thompson. He also leaves his six sons, Tommy (Elaine) Thompson, Terry Thompson, Duan N. Williams, Rev. Charlie (Rachel) Robinson, Stanley (Claretta) Robinson, and Felton Robinson; along with his six daughters, Faye McCarthy, Lindoris (Willie Ray Sr.) Bickham, Vernadine (Joe Willie) Roberts, Judy Comeaux, Dawndra Barnes, and Willie Fae (Dwight) Shepard. He also leaves behind a loving brother, Broson Thompson, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His parents and two brothers, Charles Thompson and Henry Ellis Thompson, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, located at 193 Dexter Road in Tylertown, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Robinson Cemetery in Angie.
