Melyndia Rena Bruns, 57, of Colorado Springs, Colo., a former resident of Bogalusa, departed this life Sunday, August 4, 2019, at St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her father, Donald Ray Bruns Sr. of Shreveport; one daughter, Okiciyapi Bruns Bonseigneur; three sons, Rhoshykee Bruns (Katie), Odakonya Bruns, all of Colorado Springs, and Lfetayo Bruns of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; four brothers, Donald Bruns Jr., Larry Bruns and Kekouya Jackson, of Odessa, Texas, Brian Jackson, (Patrice) of Bogalusa; two sisters, Chequitah Bruns of Bogalusa, and Monique Bruns of Shreveport; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four aunts; five uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Fox Bruns.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 16, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Family hour will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Crain & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 17, at noon at St. Paul A.M.E Church with Elder R.L. Palmer, pastor, and the Rev. Joe E. Conley (of Mansfield, Texas), officiating. Interment will be at the Bogalusa Cemetery.
