Celestine Jones

Mrs. Celestine R. Jones was born April 16, 1943, to the late Adies J. and Ella Montgomery Reeves in Canton, Miss. She departed this life July 10, 2019, at the age of 76.
Celestine attended school in the Washington Parish School System and graduated from Washington Parish High School, before briefly attending Southern University in Baton Rouge. Celestine was retired after having served as Housekeeping Supervisor for Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton for more than a decade. She was active in the community and spent time sitting with the elderly. She was a lifelong member of Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church.
Celestine delighted in her friends, and her role as a sister, mother and grandmother. These relationships were the most important to her. She was a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends, especially for holiday gatherings. Additionally, she had a life-long passion for gardening and took tremendous pride in her plants.
Celestine lived a blessed life and will be missed. She leaves behind two sons, Theo Jones of Franklinton, and Andre Reeves of Slidell; one sister, Amelia Reeves of Bogalusa; four grandchildren, Andre Reeves Jr., Asante Reeves, Andraya Reeves and Angel Reeves; and numerous other loving relatives and close friends.
Celestine was preceded in death by her father, Adies Reeves; mother, Ella Montgomery Reeves; her husband, Theophile J. Jones Sr.; three brothers, Leon Matthews, Lucious E. Reeves and Adies J. Reeves Jr.; and one sister, Ruth R. Evans.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. until noon at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1811 Desmare St. in Franklinton, with the funeral services following at noon. Pastor Norwert Hills Jr. will be officiating.
