Kenneth Kennedy

Mr. Kenneth W. Kennedy, born June 23, 1927, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Resthaven Living Center, where he died peacefully at 92 years old. Ken was born in Stateline, where he spent his boyhood. Ken proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Army and served in Germany during World War II. He was a millwright for Crown Zellerbach and a lifetime resident of Bogalusa, where he raised his five children.

He is survived by two daughters, Karon (Kay) Kennedy Taylor (Sharp) of Angie, and Mona Smith (Jimmy) of Clarksville, Ark.; and one son, Britt Kennedy Sr. of Laplace. Lovingly known as “Pops,” he leaves behind nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Lewis, Leslie Lewis, Amy Cuneo Knight (Neil), Kana Dean Kennedy (Alex), Britt Kennedy Jr., Dustin Kennedy (Karen), Kisha Kennedy, Brittany McGehee Herndon and Alton Smith; along with 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Proceeding in death were his loving wife of 72 years, Barbara S. Kennedy; and his father, Benjamin Kennedy; his mother, Golden Ard Kennedy; sister, Wilmoth “Bill” Kennedy; brothers, Milton, and Delmer Kennedy; and two sons, Bryan and Keith Kennedy.

Services will be officiated by Brother Clay Norwood on Sunday, July 21, at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, located at 610 Ave. F in Bogalusa, with the wake at 11 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. burial at Ponemah Cemetery. Military services will be provided by the American Legion Magic City Post #24. Lunch after burial in Ponemah Cemetery will be served at Superior Avenue Church for family where Mr. Kennedy was a member.
