Ellen Knight

Ellen Black Knight, 96, affectionately known as “Aunt Ellen,” was a longtime resident of Bogalusa. Ellen passed away peacefully on July 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
Ellen is survived by her four children, Bubba Knight (Jane), Metta Harper, Nancy Montagnino (Greg) and Andy Knight (Jean). She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Alan Knight, Stacey Knight, Larry (Kip) Adcox, Chris Adcox, Andy Montagnino, Cassie Dinecola and Trent Knight; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Leontine “Teeny” Black; her sister, Margaret Simmons; and her two brothers, Joe and Buddy Black.
Ellen served as an Ensign during World War II as a Navy Nurse where she met her husband, Ralph Knight. She continued her nursing career working in the Bogalusa community at the Desporte Clinic and the Bogalusa Medical Center. She is a lifetime member of Annunciation Catholic Church. In the past year and a half she has resided at the Azalea Estates Assisted Living Facility in Gonzales. Ellen loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 22, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., followed by eulogies. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Her final resting place will be Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa.
