Betty Walters

Sister Betty Martin Walters was born on July 2, 1947, to the late Robert Martin Sr. and Mamie Hart in Bogalusa. She received her secular education from the Washington Parish School System in Franklinton, Louisiana State University and Southern University in Baton Rouge.

Survivors who will cherish her memories include: a wonderful daughter, Tamu A. Walters; caring sons, Chaka K. Walters (wife, Venessa), Imani M. Walters (wife, LaTresia); adorable grandchildren, Aldric M. Calhoun II (better known as “A.J.”), Deonte’ Walters, Jada Ann, Robert Lamar and step-grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Tavius, Talea, Tavarus, Alison and Jayden; a loving brother, Robert Martin Jr.; dependable sisters, Mattie Lee Shanks, Clementine Simmons, Deloris Cooper and Patricia Brooks; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving Christian friends; sisters-in-law, Audrey Camp, Betty Walters, and Judy Williams; brothers-in-law, Calvin, Wayne (Carmen), Rudolph (Pat) and Jackie (Marie).

Those who preceded her in death and that she looked forward to welcoming in the resurrection include: her parents, Robert and Mamie Martin; sister, Roberta Martin Greene and Madis Russell; sister-in-law, Velma Martin; nephew, Johnathan Fleming; brother-in-law, Joseph Simmons; as well as many Christian friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13, from noon until 4 p.m. at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Washington St. in Franklinton, with a Family Hour from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the same location. A visitation will be held Sunday, July 14, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., with the funeral services at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witnesses, 42590 Highway 16 in Franklinton. Brother Richard Davis will be officiating.
