Elijah Harry

Elijah Harry was born on June 25, 1951, in Varnado, to the late Roscoe Harry and the late Katie Mae Jones-Harry. He departed this life on May 15, 2019, at his home in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 67. Immediately following high school, he joined the Job Corps in Fort Worth, Texas. Afterwards, he became a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he proudly served for four years.

He leaves to mourn: his wife, Rose Payne-Harry of San Antonio; one daughter, Renee Harry of Tacoma, Wash.; and four sons, Timothy Harry, Joshua Harry (Angeles), Mark Harry of Tacoma, and Elliott Harry (Robin) of Baton Rouge; four brothers, William Harry (Lauren) of Picayune, Miss., Levi Harry (Ketta) and Raymond Harry (Felicia), both of Angie, and Ronald Harry (Sonya) of Round Rock, Texas; four sisters, Augustine Braithwaite and Janice Moses (Theodore Jr.), both of Angie, Jo Ann Carvalho (Doug) of Newbury Park, Calif., and Edna Montgomery (Thomas) of Lancaster, Calif.; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins; and a special mother-in-law, Mrs. Rose Payne.

Elijah was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Katie Mae Harry; his wife, Alice Harry; son, Elijah Harry Jr.; and sister, Diane Johns.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services at Crain & Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa on Tuesday, June 25, at 11 a.m., with Minister Charles Jones officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Robinson Cemetery in Varnado, with full military rites performed.
