On Saturday, May 25, the Franklinton branch library hosted its final story time program before the library system’s annual summer reading program commences.

Children’s librarian Amy Hall read the story “I Want an Ostrich,” by author Sonya Annita Song. After the story, the children got to color their own ostriches, some to take home while others are displayed proudly on the Franklinton library window. The kids went home with their own crayons and books.

Registration for the summer reading program ends June 8. The first activity starts this week, with a performance by the MetroPelican Opera, who will present the play “Hansel and Gretel.”

Weekly summer reading program activities are Wednesdays at 10 p.m. in Bogalusa, Wednesdays at 2 p.m. in Enon, Thursdays at 10 a.m. in Franklinton, and Thursdays at 2 p.m. in Thomas.
