‘Christmas in Park’ raffle tickets on sale

Bogalusa’s Christmas in the Park commission members are conducting their annual sale of ‘Christmas in July’ raffle tickets with the winner receiving $5,000.
Only 150 tickets at $100 each are sold with the raffle for the $5,000 taking place in July.
For those who do not win the cash offered, the stub of the ticket can be used as a season pass for two for the 2019 season, which runs from Thanksgiving through Christmas.
Except for donations received from individuals, corporate sponsors and gate receipts, the annual raffle is the only fundraiser held as no operation funds are received from the city or state.
Raffle tickets may be purchased from Christmas in the Park committee members including, Col Bobby Miller (985-750-8134, Roosevelt Ludd (985-730-5158), Kay Kay Varnado in the Mayor’s office at city hall (985-516-9050) or by calling Shirley Thompson at the WEDF (985-735-7565).
The drawing will take place at noon on Thursday, July 11 at the Washington Economic Development Foundation office located on Georgia Avenue in Bogalusa. The winner does not need to be present and will be contacted by phone.
This will be the 26th year that Christmas in the Park is celebrated in Bogalusa. Attending the event with many major displays and millions of lights and is now a well-loved family tradition. It celebrates the magic of Christmas as individuals and families stroll through Bogalusa’s forested Cassidy Park to enjoy the spectacular show of lights and animated figures, the Christmas music, warming by the Yule log or enjoying a cup of hot chocolate from the deli.
Santa Claus also visits the park each night to hear your child’s Christmas list.
Overall, it’s an enjoyable experience for the young and old alike.
On a continuing basis, the Christmas in the Park Commission will gladly accept any monetary donation toward the purchase of items that will enhance the brilliant night time holiday spectacle in the expanded Cassidy Park.
