Whitney Landon McNeese, 35, a resident of Highway 438 north of Franklinton, began his 16th stay in the Washington Parish Jail after his arrest on Friday, according to Chief Deputy Mike Haley of the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Whitney was held on a $10,000 bond for two counts of burglary and one count of failure to appear in court.
The arrest of McNeese by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office was the result of an ongoing investigation into several burglaries committed in the Thomas community, Haley said.
“Thanks to security cameras which had been installed by a homeowner, images of McNeese were captured showing him in possession of burglary tools and attempting to break into a shed behind the homeowner’s residence,” Haley said. “McNeese was identified and arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives.”
The ongoing investigation indicates that McNeese may have committed other crimes and sold some of the stolen items. Anyone who has purchased anything from McNeese is asked to call WPSO Det. Corbet Hunt at 985-661-2024.
Haley said that McNeese’s history with the Washington Parish Jail began in October of 2007 and continued with his 16th arrest on Friday.
Previous arrests for McNeese were for various charges, including theft, distribution of illegal drugs, burglary, criminal damage, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs, possession of stolen property, criminal conspiracy, unauthorized use of a credit card, assault, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, obstruction of justice, criminal damage to property, fraudulent acquisition of a credit card and failure to appear in court.
Washington Parish Sheriff Randy Seal commented on Friday’s arrest.
“While reviewing McNeese’s arrest history over the last eleven and a half years, I can only assume he is a career criminal,” Seal said. “I am so pleased with the foresight of the homeowner to install security cameras and with the hard work of our detectives to identify and arrest McNeese.
“Please help us if you have purchased any item from Whitney Landon McNeese. Call Detective Hunt and tell him what you know. You may help solve other crimes which McNeese might have committed.”
