John Patrick Lyons

John Patrick Lyons, 55, born in Bogalusa on March 26, 1964, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at his home in Pine, surrounded by family.

A member of Briarwood Baptist Church, he was a graduate of Bogalusa High School. Patrick was a U.S. Army veteran. After his service in the Army, he began an extensive career in Law Enforcement. He was employed as a Major at the Bogalusa Police Department where he worked for 23 years. He was a member of Masonic Center Lodge 244. Hunting was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Crystal Breland Lyons of Pine; one son, Johnathan Lyons of Pine; three daughters, Elizabeth Edholm (Tyler) of Chandler, Ariz., Emma and Maggie Lyons of Pine; two grandchildren, Alaina and Savannah Edholm; his mother, Judy Lyons; and his brother, Shannon Lyons. He is also survived by his aunt, Susan (Dr. Paul) Huray; his in-laws, Debbie and Karon Breland; nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sydney “Buddy” Lyons; and by his grandparents, Robert Lyons and Emma Brickey, and Henry and Maxine McMillian.

Services honoring the life of Mr. Lyons will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the funeral service begins at 2 p.m. The Rev. Eric Williams and the Rev. Bobby Thornhill will officiate. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery, where military honors will be presented.
