Lou Ann Mayfield

Lou Ann Mayfield passed away at home on April 14, 2019, with her husband and children by her side.
Lou Ann was 80 years old has been a resident of Bogalusa for the last 55 years. She was born in Monroe then moved in with her mother in Shreveport and graduated from Byrd high school. She was Miss Shreveport and runner up in the Miss Louisiana contest two years in a row. Then Lou Ann attended Louisiana Tech and was Miss Louisiana Tech in 1958. Then she married Leonard and graduated Louisiana Tech in 1961. Lou Ann was a social worker for the state of Louisiana in child protection and became a supervisor her last several years and retired after 38 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Lock, Nell and Grady Colvin; and oldest child, Melanie Barnes.
She is survived by husband, Leonard Mayfield and children Michael Mayfield (Jessica Stogner), Monica Markey, Mary Mayfield (Kevin Cooper); brother, Robert Lock of Dumas, Ark.; and sister, Patrica Campbell of Shreveport; grandchildren, Blake Barnes (Wendy Stogner), Joshua Mayfield, Marina Poe (Nathan), Jessica January (Kyryn-Kenya Jackson Sr.) Angelle Markey, Allie Barnes, Gabrielle Mayfield, Mason Stogner, Landon Gornor, Aliyah Markey, Payton Stogner, Dewan Brown Jr., Kevin Stogner, Kyra Jackson, Kyryn-Kenye Jackson Jr., Alaina Barnes and Lukas Mayfield.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 16, from 9 a.m. until the service time of 11 a.m., with interment being held in Ponemah Cemetery.
