The Louisiana Dept. of Transportation and Development (DOTD) will be doing road work on Louisiana Highway 436 the next two weeks, and some lanes may be closed during the project, according to DOTD officials.

There will be alternating closures of the inside (left) lane and outside (right) lane of the eastbound and westbound lanes on Highway 436 between Monroe Creek Road and North Junction Louisiana Highway 21, beginning Monday at 7 a.m. through Monday, April 8, at 7 a.m.

During these lane closures, crews will be milling the existing asphalt and cutting soil cement, weather permitting. One lane in each direction will be open at all times.

Oversized loads are not allowed; emergency vehicles will have access.

A detour route is available. Motorists traveling east on Highway 436 may take Highway 436 to Louisiana Highway 62, east on Highway 62 to Louisiana Highway 10, east on Highway 10 to Highway 21, and north on Highway 21 to Highway 436. Motorists traveling west on Highway 436 may take Highway 436 to Highway 21, south on Highway 21 to Highway 10, west on Highway 10 to Highway 62, and west on Highway 62 to Highway 436.

Message boards and construction signs have been placed for this detour.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and reminds motorists to drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
