James Parker Sr.

James David Parker Sr., better known as David, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, at the age of 83.

Mr. Parker was a charter member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church and a current member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was an avid football enthusiast and a devoted LSU fan.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 15 years, Elouise Harris Quave Parker; his son James “Jim” David Parker Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; his daughter, Susan Parker Singletary of Bogalusa; three step-daughters, Kim Lively of Bogalusa, Monica Quave Miller of Bogalusa, and Helen Quave Cotton of Bogalusa; his seven grandchildren, Greyson Lane Parker of Reno, Nev., Adreane D. Kuhn of Bogalusa, Richard D. Kuhn II of Bogalusa, Heidi Lively Rose of Petal, Miss., Dustin Lively of Bogalusa, Jessica Stewart of Bogalusa, and Hailie Adams of Bogalusa; and special niece, Tracey Creel Hunter of Monroe. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.Y. Parker Sr. and Nellie Parker; his first wife, Elaine Smith Parker; his brother, J.Y. Parker Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth Parker Creel.

Services celebrating his life will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and Crematory in Bogalusa on Sunday, March 3. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until the funeral service begins at 2 p.m. The Rev. Field Thigpen will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Fornea Cemetery in Varnado.
