Camille Piccinati

Longtime Bogalusa resident and teacher Camille Foil Piccinati, 96, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Ollie Steel Burden Manor in Baton Rouge.

Born Sept. 29, 1922, in Franklinton, she taught in the Bogalusa City School System from 1951 to 1978.

Piccinati was a graduate of Louisiana College and, in 1969, was awarded an M.A. in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught in the Bogalusa City School System from 1951 to 1978, and after her retirement from teaching, she remained active in Superior Avenue Baptist Church and in Bogalusa civic activities.

In later years, she also enjoyed traveling with beloved husband of 67 years, Bogalusa businessman and former City Council member and president Jay J. Piccinati. Both were active in the national organization of World War II veterans of the 65th Division, Army Corps of Engineers.

Camille Piccinati was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Piccinati; her daughter and son-in-law, Janet Piccinati and Michael J. Landry; her parents, Latimore B. and Susie B. Foil; and her brother, David L. Foil Sr.

Survivors include her grandsons, Christian Landry (Ashley) of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Briant Landry (Jennifer) of Baton Rouge; her great-grandsons, Tyler Landry of Kansas City, Mo., Michael Landry of Gainesville, Fla., and Wade Landry of Hattiesburg; her sister, Frances Foil Lee of Clinton, Miss.; a niece, Susan Lee Shivers (Robert) of Clinton; and a nephew, David L. Foil Jr. of New York, N.Y.

The family will hold a private graveside memorial in Bogalusa on April 6 at 11 a.m. at the Ponemah Cemetery.
