Jessie Mae Newson Peters passed away on Feb. 6, 2019, at her residence in Angie, at the age of 91. She was born in Columbia, Miss., on Feb. 14, 1927.

She leaves to cherish her memories and honor her legacy: three sons, Elder Robert Wayne (Annie Ruth) Peters, Willie B. (Kathy) Peters Jr. of Angie, and Amos (Odessa) Peters Sr., of Varnado; one daughter, Annie Pearl (Eugene) Allen II of Angie; one brother, Isadore Newson of Columbia, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Margie Newson of Georgia; a grandson she raised as her own, Drice (Ameldia) Peters of Bogalusa; extended family, John and Lela Mae Newson and John and Clottell Jackson; a devoted niece, Eddie Mae Ratliff of Angie; special friends, Earnestine Peters of Angie, and Ossilean Moses of Varnado; her caregiver, Inez Peters of Angie; godson, Marcus Raine of Bogalusa; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Jesse Isadore (Lillie McFarland) Newson; eight siblings; and one granddaughter, Samatha Peters.

The visitation will be 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The wake will be 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Harry Cemetery in Angie.
