Mr. Rochester Hart was born Sept. 25, 1944, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hart Sr. in Franklinton. He was the second of six children to this union and the fourth child in a total of eight.

Rochester, better known as Roy, joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age. He later moved to New Orleans, where he took up the trade of cement finishing in which he started his own business. He continued in this business until his health prevented him from continuing to work. Roy was a diligent working man. He worked hard and played harder. He was often known for his flashy “pimp” style fashions and his stoic demeanor. After his health began to fail him, he later moved to Lafayette to be near his sister, Beverly, where he resided until he fell asleep in death.

Roy leaves to mourn three daughters, Sheryl Guitroz (Perry) of Slidell, Yolanda Morris (Brian) of New Orleans and Sherry Rose of New Orleans; two sons, Pierre Hart (Charlene) of New Orleans, Donprel Martin (Raheal) of Fresno, Calif.; four sisters, Belavin “Beverly” Woods (Ronald) of Lafayette, Alvia Williams (Lavelle) of Carmichael, Calif., Charlene Jones and Leaudry Connor of Franklinton; one brother, Lawrence Hart (Patricia) of Shreveport; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Leon Hart Sr. and Dorothy Mae Bell Hart; one daughter, Lisa; sister, Ladonis Cooley; brother, Leon Hart Jr.; and a very special friend, Alice.

The visitation will be 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Franklinton. The funeral service will follow at noon, with the Rev. Johnny Causey officiating. Interment will be at Bell Cemetery.
