Silvia Esteves

Silvia Chinchilla Esteves, 74, of Slidell, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019.

She is the beloved wife of Gary Esteves; mother of Joseph A. Capritto(Lynne), Catherine Capritto Gotzkowsky (Karl), Kenneth M. Capritto (Jennifer); daughter of the late Jesus Alberto Chinchilla and Maria Betulia Ordonez Mulkey; and the sister of Bessy Coello, Patricia Bran, Maria Samayoa Peek, Carol Chinchilla, the late Jose Rolando Chinchilla, Josefa Guillen and Jesus Alberto Chinchilla. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and her aunt, Zoila Argentina Chinchilla Solis.

A native of Honduras, she moved to the Greater New Orleans area in 1963 and became a U.S. citizen in 1990.

She owned and operated Silvia’s Restaurant in Bogalusa and was also a former Banker at First Metropolitan/Hibernia Bank of Kenner.

She was a member of the Foreign Born Wives Club of Slidell, and volunteered at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Her family, especially her grandchildren, were the most important things in her life and extended family reunions were frequently held at her home. Her wishes were for her family to be together and stay close.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, Feb. 1, after 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery) in Slidell, at 11 a.m.

Donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Pulmonaryfibrosis.org, are preferred, in lieu of flowers.
