Vondell Way

Vondell Way, 87, passed away Jan. 11, 2019, in Lynnwood, Wash. She was born Aug. 30, 1931 to Chess and Dessie Gerald of Pine.

Vondell graduated from Thomas High School in 1950. She attended Southeastern Louisiana College before transferring to the Baylor University technician nursing program at Bogalusa Community Medical Center, where she earned her certification in 1952. Vondell served in area hospitals until 1958.

Vondell moved to Seattle, Wash., in 1958, where she was a nurse and served as a Tentmaker in the Home Missions Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Vondell married George Way on March 11, 1962, and they shared 45 years together.

She is survived by her son, Nathan, wife Donna and grandchildren, Jacqueline (Josh) Gibson, Rebekah Way, Rachel (Luke) Lafontaine, and Annie Noyes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and daughter, Kathryn.

A memorial service for Vondell was held Friday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. at Martha Lake Baptist Church, located at 17319 Larch Way in Lynnwood.

Memorial donations may be made to Martha Lake Baptist Church.
