Bonds set for murder suspect trio

The three suspects in a Dec. 28 armed robbery and murder are now being held in the Washington Parish Jail on a $2.15 million bond each.

Melissa Smith, 29, of Tylertown, Miss., Lance Rouse, 24, of Picayune, Miss., and Levi Lee, 17, of Carriere, Miss., are each being held on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of armed robbery. Bond for each is $2.15 million, according to Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office records.

The three suspects are accused of being involved in a Dec. 28 armed robbery at J & Z Quik Stop on Louisiana Highway 21 North in Bogalusa. During the armed robbery, store employee Abdulraham Alaquir Taleb, 53, of Bogalusa, was wounded with a shotgun blast. He died at University Medical Center in New Orleans two days later.

The three suspects were captured in Montgomery County, Ala., on Dec. 29, and transported back to Washington Parish on Friday.
