We’ll keep the stretch pants

It’s the day after Christmas when all through the house

Not a creature is hungry, not even a mouse

The ham we baked, and the turkey we smoked

Then we ate and we ate as if our diets were a joke

We filled our plates with all they could store

Then we chuckled at the sight and we ate some more

But now the day after when we look at the scale

All we can do is let out a wail

It’s hard to believe we threw caution to the wind

Now we have to count carbs all over again

But the cakes they were yummy

And the pies filled our tummies

We gave no thought to tomorrow

But now to our sorrow

Our pants are too tight

It just doesn’t seem right

That a little extra food

When we were in that jolly holiday mood

Could take such a toll

And keep us away from our goal

But wait just a minute, we didn’t remember

All of the parties we went to spread over December

Now what will we do when we try on our jeans

We won’t fuss and cry and make a big scene

The New Year is coming in just a few days

We can start a new program and mend our old ways

Maybe next Christmas we’ll eat light

But then again, it just wouldn’t seem right

So we’ll keep the stretch pants
