Jimmie Cothern

Jimmie Mae Cothern passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa, at the age of 83. She was born in Bogalusa on Dec. 25, 1934.

Mrs. Cothern was a long-time resident of Bogalusa and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a beautician working from her home for many years.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son, Gary A. (Bonnie) Cothern of Bogalusa; her grandchildren, Chad A. Cothern of Bogalusa, Shanda (Kevin) Moore of Bogalusa, and Brandon (Anna) Goodner of Bogalusa; her great-grandchildren, Abigail Cothern, Annabella Cothern, Shelby Cothern, Alyssa M. (Jordan) Busby, Christian Walker, Regan Cothern, Kinzley Moore, Alivia Goodner, and Tyler Prater; and one sister, Barbara Lambert (special friend Jimmy Ray Dyson.) She is also survived by her loving companion, John Manuli.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred “Sonny” Cothern; two of her children, Randall Cothern and Clay Cothern; and her grandson, Shane Cothern.

A celebration of her life was at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 21. The family received friends at 1 p.m. and continued until the service began at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has expressed that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church Miracle Family Scholarship Fund.
