Cynthia Anderson

Cynthia Allision Baker Anderson, “CAB,” passed away Dec. 15, 2018, surrounded by love. She was born to the late Johnny and Ester Baker in Bogalusa on July 22, 1936. She married Fletcher Anderson on March 21, 1961. To this union, three children were born. She was a devoted member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

Cynthia Anderson graduated from Central Memorial High School in 1956. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Grambling University and earned her master’s degree from Southeastern University.

Cynthia taught Physical Education and Mathematics in the St. Tammany Parish School System for 38 years. She was a member of the Professional Women Service Club. Cynthia was a champion for civil rights and equality for black people.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Fletcher Anderson; three children, Sonai Smith, Gamble Rudd and Patrick Anderson; grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Stanley Nathaniel, pastor, will officiate. The interment will be held in Bogalusa Cemetery.
