Jessie Lee Blackburn

Mrs. Jessie Lee Blackburn departed this life on Dec. 6, 2018, at the age of 94. She left this earthly life and transitioned to her period of eternal rest at her residence.

She was born Jan. 20, 1924, to the late Mr. Jessie Lee Hendricks and Mrs. Rosie Bell Daniels Hendricks. She was a longtime resident of Bogalusa and a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church until her health failed her.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Rosie Johnson of Bogalusa, Marie G. (Alvin) Archie of Slidell, and Nelda (Williams) Mathis of Dallas, Texas; one son, Warren Blackburn of Bogalusa; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Emery Blackburn; two daughters, Lillie and Emily Blackburn; three sons, Emery Jr., Kermit and Rogers Blackburn; her mother, Rosie Belle Brown; son-in-law, Glenn Johnson; daughter-in-law, Geraldine Washington Blackburn; and grandson, Donald R. Brown Jr.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Bogalusa, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 3 p.m., with Elder Christopher Matthews, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
