According to unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website, Bogalusa incumbent mayor Wendy Perrette won re-election in a runoff election held Saturday night.

With all 15 city precincts reporting, Perrette received 1,061 votes (56 percent) while her challenger, Bogalusa City Council member Doug Ritchie, received 842 votes (44 percent).

In Bogalusa City Council’s District C run-off race, Oneita Graham won with 245 votes (59 percent) to Shelby Temples’ 172 votes (41 percent).

City voters also narrowly rejected a 3-mill property tax increase that would have been used to fund pension benefits for city workers. The increase was rejected by 51 percent of the voters, with 896 voting no and 868 voting yes.

Two other tax-related proposals were approved, but these only re-dedicated existing tax funds and were not additional taxes. The re-dedications will only be used for the pension benefits.

All five alcohol-related proposals were approved for the Town of Franklinton. Also, in Washington Parish Council District 5, Thomas “Rusty” Fornea won the runoff with 339 votes (65 percent) to Randy Thomas’ 182 votes (35 percent).
