Mrs. Lillie Mae Curtis departed from her earthly house to her home in glory at the age of 85 on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at her residence. She was born on Feb. 8, 1933, to the union of Mrs. Martha Ann Elijah Washington and Mr. John Dykes.
Mrs. Lillie Curtis was always a quiet and caring person. She was a devoted member of Metropolitan Baptist Church and her affiliations were: Sunday School member, Senior Mission and she once served as a member of the Senior Choir.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Donnie Curtis; two daughters, Lorraine (Marvin Sr.) Austin of Bogalusa and Sherolyn M. Curtis of Brandon, Miss.; five grandchildren, Shaneika Merrill of Slidell, Keith Merrill, Marvin Austin Jr., Bradley T. Austin of Bogalusa, and Cory Davenport of Brandon, Miss.; two special granddaughter, Shandarion Joseph of Bogalusa and Simone Young of Covington; five great-grandchildren, Jenequa Thomas of Beaumont, Texas, Sydney Ewing of Slidell, Jaylen Brickmore, Matthew Austin and Asher Austin of Bogalusa; three great-great-grandchildren, Aniya Robinson and Ladarrius Robinson Jr. of Bogalusa, and Kyla Thomas of Baton Rouge; one sister, Eva Dell Byrd of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Dykes and Martha Ann Dillon; and two daughters, Kathryn E. Merrill and Janice L. Davenport.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Bogalusa, with the Rev. M.J. Galloway, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in the Bogalusa Cemetery.
