Albert Crawford Sr.

Albert William Crawford Sr. was born on Dec. 8, 1940 in Independence, to Howard and Genoa Crawford. He was the first child of four. He married the love of his life, Jane Ann Reyer Crawford, on Nov. 28, 1964, at Warren Street Church of God in Bogalusa. Albert loved life; but more than anything, he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Albert graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1958. He then went on to join the U.S. Air Force. During the Cold War, he was stationed overseas in Istanbul, Turkey, where his job was to intercept messages from foreign countries. In 1962, he was honorably discharged and came home to the city of Bogalusa where he met his wife, Jane Ann, of 54 years. He then started his career of 38 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He has worked at the post offices of Bogalusa, Bush, Sun, Franklinton and finished his career as the head postmaster of Angie.

He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Glen Crawford; his parents, Howard and Genoa Crawford; and aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann Reyer Crawford; his children, Albert Jr. (Becky) Crawford and Tim (Becky) Crawford; grandchildren, Jonathan (Shan) Simmons, Vicki Magee, Bryanna (Drue) Sprehe, Emily (Ronald) Toomer, and Amanda Crawford; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronnie (Bonnie) Crawford and Richard Crawford; one sister, Vivian (Leonard) Hennesy; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend visitation on Sunday, Nov. 25, at Cornerstone Community Church in Bogalusa, beginning at 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. Visitation resumed at the church Monday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m. until the service time at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ricky J. Rayals officiating. Interment immediately followed at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa.
